Frank Ordon is president of the Julius Kühn Institute (JKI), Federal Research Centre for Cultivated Plants in Germany and honorary professor for molecular resistance breeding at the Martin Luther University, Halle-Wittenberg. His research focus is on molecular plant breeding with special emphasis on improving resistance to biotic and abiotic stress, while the JKI deals with a much broader portfolio of research comprising e.g. plant protection and plant health as well as plant production and agroecology. JKI's scientific expertise provides the basis for its scientific assessment and evaluation tasks and respective policy advice in its field of expertise.
